Seeing the past
We don’t ever really see anything in the present. We’re looking at light arriving at our eyes from a time in the past (tiny fractions of milliseconds in the past but still in the past.
Looking into a mirror would double (or at least increase) this time. The concept is basically just a smaller scale version of how light from a distant star shines towards a time and place lightyears away. So a star you are ‘seeing’ now could have burned out millions of years ago even though you are only seeing it’s light now.
Now if you could see that star in a mirror…
